We Are Not the Typical Scholarship Program
Awarding financial grants is only the beginning of what Greenhouse Scholars offers. We provide high-performing, under-resourced students with every type of support they’ll need to achieve their full potential. We address each Scholar individually with our Whole Person© approach that includes mentorship, peer mentorship, access to a network of Professional Liaisons, internship opportunities, a Summer Symposium, and a financial grant for the college of their choice.

This is the Greenhouse Scholars difference. Not only are we helping high-performing students get to college, we’re ensuring they’ll continue to thrive once they’re there – and most importantly, after their four years in the program are over. The day our Scholars leave college, they will already be prepared to be true community leaders.

1.  If some of my grades or my SAT or ACT scores are poor, will I still be considered for your
program?

Every student who meets the minimum requirements should apply.  Greenhouse Scholars are selected based on more than just academic performance. Your extracurricular activities, community involvement, scholastic achievement, answers to the essay questions, and personal character will all be considered in the selection process.

2.  What is the amount of the Greenhouse Scholars financial grant?
The grant is valued between $4,000 and $20,000 over the four-year program.  The exact amount of the award is determined by the specific needs of the recipient.

3.  Will applying for other loans or scholarships affect my eligibility?
Your enrollment in other scholarships or financial support programs will not affect your eligibility. All Scholars selected will receive an award of at least $1,000 per year for four years – as well as the support of our Whole Person© Program.

4.  What type of college should I apply to in order to be eligible for Greenhouse Scholars?
To become a Greenhouse Scholar you must plan on attending an accredited four-year institution and start classes the same year you are enrolled into our program.

5.  Is participation in the Whole Person© program required to receive financial aid?
Yes. The financial grant is provided only as one component of the complete Whole Person program.

6. Will I have to meet any requirements to remain eligible for the scholarship from year to year?
Greenhouse Scholars is a four-year scholarship. In order to renew the scholarship each year, Scholars must maintain a GPA of no less than 3.0, complete a 200 hour internship by their senior year, and participate in all aspects of our Whole Person© program which includes: regular interaction with a program mentor, participation in our peer mentorship program, community service and attendance at our Summer Symposium. For a more detailed description of our program’s requirements, view our Scholar Contract at the end of the application.

7.  How long will Greenhouse Scholars continue to offer this program?
Greenhouse Scholars is part of a larger commitment to excellence within our communities.  We intend to continue creating community leadership indefinitely.  However, the future is never completely foreseeable.  Greenhouse Scholars reserves the right to change conditions and procedures, or to discontinue the program at any time.
